American businessman, Bill Gates during an interview with the Economic Club of Washington, revealed that windows phones should have taken over the mobile phone market instead of android.
In the course of the interactions he added that they missed the opportunity to do what Android did because they have the skill set.
Gates said Microsoft was clearly the company that could have achieved what Google did because they were already in the market of mobile phone and they knew it was going to be a huge thing and very popular.
He said they missed being the dominant mobile company by ‘a very tiny amount’, adding that they were distracted.
“We were in the field of doing operating systems for personal computers. We knew that mobile phones would be very popular.
“We missed being the dominant mobile operating system by a very tiny amount. We were distracted during our antitrust trial and didn’t assign the best people to do the work,” he said.
In the interview, the Windows boss also praised the current chief of the company, Satya Nadella, for increasing the market value of the company to $1 trillion.
