The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has eventually withdrawn the certificate of return it earlier gave Peter Nwaoboshi and issued it Ned Nwoko as the authentic senator-elect for Delta North senatorial district.
Acting on the earlier court judgment of Federal High Court Abuja that sacked Nwaoboshi for not being the winner of the PDP primary in the Delta region, INEC on Friday, May 10, gave Nwoko the certificate.
The electoral umpire, through its director of legal services, Oluwatoyin Babalola, issued the certificate at the its headquarters in Abuja amid wild jubilation by well wishers and family members of the senator-elect, Sahara Reporters.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that the Federal High Court Abuja on Wednesday, April 4 sacked Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, the senator-elect for Delta North senatorial district.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed gave the order while delivering judgment in a suit filed by Ned Nwoko challenging the election of Nwaoboshi as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the October 2, 2018 primaries of the party held in Delta.
