A mother allegedly watched on as her partner raped and beat her three-year-old daughter to death, police say.

American police claim Janiyah Armanie Brooks’ 19-year-old mum Crystal Brooks witnessed Gregory Parker, 20, commit the horrific abuse at their home in Atlanta, Georgia.

Parker, 20, has been charged with rape, aggravated sodomy, aggravated battery, battery, aggravated child molestation and first-degree cruelty to children.

Janiyah’s mother stands accused of being party to first-degree cruelty to children, aggravated battery, battery and providing a false statement.

The authorities shared a picture of the tot smiling just before her death, with the caption ‘three-year-old Janiyah Armanie Brooks, gone but not forgotten’.

Police described the crimes as ‘heinous’ and said there were signs that the youngster had also suffered previous abuse, reports the Daily Star.

A statement said: “The child had injuries to her (genital) area, ribs, along with swollen hands and unknown trauma to her head.”

Albany Georgia Police Department was called to the child’s home at 7.30pm on May 13, with Parker telling officers that his stepdaughter was unresponsive.

The emergency medical services then rushed the youngster to hospital, where she stayed on a ventilator for almost a week before dying.

Jennifer Kaye, who claims to be the girl’s aunt, has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for the toddler’s funeral.
